Leah Banks

Leah is a big supporter of the Walking School Bus at University Academy. She has documented a different safety program for each age group and is working currently to get the neighborhood kids to start walking in on "buses". Leah is trying to link together the many ages of their school (K-12) by getting the high school kids to walk the younger ones for service time. She is promoting the WSB by getting the teachers to walk to school too! She obtained approval for the teachers to park at a local gas station and walk from there. She is a staff person with a full plate of responsibilities but believes whole-heartedly that kids need to healthier and is making it doable. She truly thinks of all aspects of safety and health.

From Leah: Thank you for the opportunity of having University Academy share our Walking School BUS education. Education must include mind, body and spirit. The steps we take can last a lifetime.
