Encourage the teachers in your child's school to participate in the "Log It" program sponsored by PE Central. Using pedometers, students log the miles they walk each day, and log how many miles they accrue. The goal is to log enough steps to have walked across the entire country!
Make sure that your school participates in the "Get Active, Stay Active" program that promotes a healthy lifestyle for middle and high school students. Students can qualify for prizes by keeping an electronic fitness journal and participating in the President's Fitness Challenge.
Ask if your school has heard of the "SPARK" program. Spark stands for "Sports, Play and Active Recreation for Kids". It's a great PE program for elementary, middle school and high schools.
Help your child's teacher to organize a "Be A Smart Shopper!" field trip, is designed to reinforce the nutrition and healthy lifestyle education curricula taught in schools. At your local Hen House Market, this field trip encourages students to become passionate about incorporating health and wellness into their day-to-day lives. Students learn life-skill nutrition lessons in a fun and real-life environment through the use of hands-on activities and discussion.
